Issie’s First Month

Filed under: Birthday, Issie — joven @ 2:36 pm

Last December 21, we celebrated Issie’s first month. Lola-Mommie cooked ginatan while Dionne and I bought a banofee pie. Wow, Issie’s a month old already!

Two Weeks After

Filed under: Issie — Dionne @ 8:42 pm

Too many to blog, too little time. :)

I am officially a mom. Can you believe it? We’re parents now. Wow. I’m still in awe whenever I stare at my daughter.

I guess many of you would want to know what happened last November 21.

Being very pregnant then, I was already having difficulty getting sleep. I already felt uneasy the night before. I knew that the big day would come soon. I didn’t realize that it was that soon. I woke up early, 5:30 AM. Joven was all set to go to work then, so, I got up the same time he did. I told him I needed to go to the bathroom. After I left the bathroom, I calmly told him that I think it was time to go to the hospital. I told him that I saw blood already (my doctor told me that there are could either be three signs: water, blood or pain). We both took baths and prepared to leave. But my mom told us to wait for her. I was able to get to Chinese General Hospital at around 8AM. We proceeded to the Delivery Room. The nurses told them to wait outside and get updates after an hour. Little did we know, we’d see each other again late that afternoon. *Tsk, tsk*

My OB was already in the DR before 9AM. She told me that the baby was oblique and there was a big chance she’ll have to do a C-section. But she said that we’ll wait it out for four hours because maybe the baby might just get in the right position. So, for four hours I endured the pain (not really that painful compared to the pain the other women were experiencing) and the screaming women.

Just a little after 12 noon, the resident doctor told me that the baby was still in the same position as she was when we came in. She asked me to sign a consent form for the operation (kakaiba). After 10 minutes, I was wheeled to the Operating Room. I waited for over an hour as they prepared the Operating Room. All the while, a kind nurse aide chatted with me about the operation. He was kind enough to keep me busy and lessen my jitters.

A little over 2:00 PM, the anesthesiologist came in and injected me with the anesthesia while the aide held me down. My OB was on standby already. By 2:24, Issie was out already. She was brought to me. My baby! I was awake during the whole procedure.

After the operation, I was brought to the Recovery Room. This was when I really got scared. My whole body was shaking. I couldn’t control it. My teeth were chattering. The nurses doesn’t seemed alarmed, so I guess there was no need for me to be alarmed. After regaining the feelings on legs, I was wheeled to my room. That was the only time I saw Joven and my mom again. It was such a relief. They told me they saw Issie in the nursery already. They also told me that they were worried about not hearing anything from me and my condition except when one of the nurses told them that I was already being prepared for a C-section. Now we know, Chinese Gen is not exactly maternity friendly. I vowed that on my next baby, I scout for a maternity friendlier hospital.

Anyway, after a week, I was scheduled for a check-up from my OB. That was the time I learned that I was having post enclampsia. Buti na lang matibay katawan ko. After a week of meds, I am all better now. Thank God!

As for my two-week old baby, I can only say that my little Issie is wonderful. I just love her. :)
