You have been weighed, you have been measured, and you have been found… overweight!

Filed under: Issie, Sick — Dionne @ 11:20 am

Last Saturday morning, Joven and I headed to CGH for my monthly prenatal check-up and for him to see our family doctor for the first time.

First stop – My OB

Fortunately, there were no patients ahead of me. I was immediately ushered to the doctor’s office. After the pleasantries, she looked at my file.

“Hmm… you gained 6lbs.” Nuninu.

She told me that in total, I gained 13lbs already. The maximum weight gain should be 25lbs. Oops.

In my 7th month, she’s expecting a rapid weight gain (which is usual). Therefore, I should carefully choose what I eat. No sweets. Less fat. More protein. Fruits and veggies. *Sigh*

She told me that I should just think about how difficult it would be to give birth when I’m big or baby’s big. CS is not exactly what we both aspire for.

She asked me to lie down so that she can check baby’s heartbeat and size. She said that baby’s heartbeat is strong and baby’s size is okay but baby only reaches past my navel. Therefore, I really gained weight. :(

I asked her if we can have the ultrasound to determine baby’s gender. She said that it would be better if we do it on the 7th or 8th month, at least the chances for error will be less. Can’t wait!

Next stop – Our family doctor

Joven has been having coughs and colds, on and off. I’ve been worried about this for weeks. Good thing he finally agreed to see a doctor.

The doctor immediately recognized me when we sat down. After a few kamustahan, he took Joven’s medical history.

He asked him to step on the weighing scale. After the secretary announced his weight, he immediately exclaimed “Naku! Overweight!”

He then took his blood pressure and said that Joven’s diastolic is a bit high. His blood sugar’s normal though. He told Joven that he needs a series of lab tests to determine his health status. He also suspects that Joven has allergic cough and prescribed him some meds. He also told Joven that he really needs to lose weight. Less rice. Less fat. Less salt. No sweets. No caffeine. No fruits except for bananas and papaya. Oatmeal for breakfast. *Big Sigh from him*

The quest for the perfect body begins again… haha!

The Rebellion Begins

Filed under: Date, Movies — joven @ 10:04 pm

Last Wednesday, Dionne and I went to watch Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix at Greenbelt 3. (We were finally able to use our M-Pass again. It was about to expire after two more months of inactivity. But after Wednesday, it’s back to six more months.)

We opted for a relatively early screening (7:05 PM) so as to avoid being out too late. At 6:15 PM, we were able to get our tickets.

Because we didn’t have enough time for a non-fastfood meal, we just bought snacks to bring to the movie. Dionne had what looked like a big bucket of cheese-flavored popcorn. She eventually found out that there was a piece of cardboard at the bottom of the bucket that occupies around 20% of its volume. Tsk tsk tsk.

While I had a Sack of 4 (with cheese) from Sliders. For PHP 100, it’s not worth your money.

(We also bought a box of cupcakes from Gonuts Donuts.  You have to try these!)

Surprisingly, the cinema wasn’t even half-full. That’s just a week after it started being shown.

And then it started…

Dionne liked this movie more than the previous ones because Yates‘ take on it is more catered for adults than for kids.

My younger brother Jeffrey (Male, 24, Single) said that his friends say that they didn’t like this one because there was no Quidditch.

See the kids’ point of view?

Anyway, the last installment of the series is going to be available tomorrow. I’m not sure if bookstores will still be open at 12:01 AM later to sell these… If you are one of those who didn’t reserve a copy and want to get your hands on it, you can check this out. I got the link from one of my former officemates. I started reading it yesterday but somehow it felt different from J. K. Rowling’s style. I could be wrong… I’ll know tomorrow. :)

After the movie, we had a hearty dinner at Bubba Gump.  We ordered one pasta dish and a bucket of shrimps cooked in different ways.  One of them was called “chilly.”  We thought it would be spicy.  It didn’t occur to us that it was spelled such.

Imagine our surprise when we took our first bite of this chilly shrimp.  It was cold.

Chilly not chili!  Duh!

I was still able to finish most of it though.  And still felt bad that I was not able to wipe out the chilly shrimps.   They just taste odd.  Just like the cold soup I had in London.  (Yes, I still owe you guys the London kwento.)

From Bubba Gump, we went to Cold Rock.  Dionne treated me to Ferrero-flavored ice cream with cookie dough and Nutella.  Sinful!

I’m very happy with how our date turned out.  It’s been a while I guess.  I hope to do this more often now that most of my projects are almost done.  As long as baby allows us.  Wavyu baby!

Who’s Kickin’?

Filed under: Issie — Dionne @ 10:30 am

Last Saturday, I was busy veggie-ng in front of the laptop while I felt 3 hard kicks from baby. I was kindda surprised by the force. I stopped and placed my hand on my belly. Baby gave me another kick… I felt it na! Joven was busy wii-ng when I asked him to hurry and check out baby’s new trick. He placed his hand on the spot where I felt the kick. Unfortunately, baby became as quiet as a mouse… which reminded me of the doppler incident. Ayaw sa daddy nya. Hehe!

Last night, Joven was wii-ng (again) while I was waiting for the sandman when baby started to kick again. Joven quickly placed his hand on my belly (more gently now — I think one of the reasons baby stopped kicking nung una kasi madiin yung previous). We waited for a few seconds when baby gave in and kicked again. Joven, out of excitement, started to kiss my belly. My husband was so overwhelmed by emotions that he got teary-eyed. Aww! Wavyu, Daddy!

Worth the Wait

Wedding Video

It’s been more than a year since our wedding and we only got our wedding video from Threelogy yesterday.

But I’m not complaining. :)

We were supposed to go to their new office/HQ, much bigger than the previous one and still in Teacher’s Village QC. But something came up…

Dionne left DFA (Pasay) and got to my office (Makati) at around 5PM. I unfortunately was doing something for a client which took me more than 2 1/2 hours to finish. By that time, Pancake House, where we were planning to have dinner, was about to close. We settled for Red Ribbon instead. Sarap talaga ng cakes dun!

We were fortunate to spot a taxi at the head of the traffic. The driver agreed to take us to Philcoa, QC.

We got to the Threelogy office at around 9PM. I think they were just having their dinner. At least Papy Omeng was.

After a few moments, CJ was storming down the stairs. At syempre, inasar ako!

He even said, “Wag mo ako sisihin kung magkasalubong tayo at di kita nakilala.”

And, “Ilang pounds pare?”

Tsk tsk tsk. Even the usually quiet Jon joined in the bantering.

Am I that …

Hah! :p

Back to the video. When we got home, we sat with Mommie to watch it for the first time. It was definitely worth the wait.

Kahit na napakalayo na ng mga itsura namin nun. Hehe.

By the way, we’re going to find a way to upload the video. Hopefully soon!

After having new haircuts, we felt like posing for our first family pic. Believe me, we need to have our pic taken. May purpose ito talaga. Haha! Yes, I’m the one pregnant. :D
