Big events this weekend for us. =)
My birthday and our anniversary (2 years!).
The celebration started last Saturday. Joven surprised me with this!
He’s not too keen on sending flowers. He’d rather pamper me with other stuff than give me flowers that will eventually wilt. It’s always nice to receive flowers, that’s why I was always dropping hints about it. It took him two years! Haha! But I really, really appreciate it! *Kilig!*
After his “meeting” with Benj, we decided to head to Binondo to see two of our suppliers. First stop was Unifair. Erwin’s sooo easy to talk to. We’re set to go back next week for the proofs. =) Next was Marita of Hearts and Bells. Unfortunately, she was not there. Fortunately, her trusty assistant was. After signing another contract for the toppers, we went our way.
Next activity was one of the most anticipated activity with my French friends… Eurostar!

Ang saya! We were like kids running around. =)
Highlight 1: Buena Mano: Flipper! Actually, more like killer! We made the biggest mistake of not watching this ride before we “bravely” mounted it. MISTAKE! We all had difficulty standing up after.

That did not dampen out dizzy spirits… We jumped from one ride to the another. Well, not the scary ones. Which left us with the bump car, carousel, ferris wheel, and the one similar to wild river. Hehe! The others were braver and tried their luck with the Joker (which basically tries to kill you also by throwing you 40 meters up and down). We were busy walking around and enjoying the night, until Joven froze and told me…
Highlight 2: “Bearwin is here!” =D
I was too shy to do it until the others convinced me…
With aching backs, arms and legs… we decided to call it a night (more like morning). More pics here and here.
Sunday!
Mon anniversaire!
Early Sunday morning, I received a card from Joven and a copy of “Tuesdays with Morrie” (My friend lost my copy). Yey!
After mass, we prepared for a hefty lunch. What diet? =P Food details in our food blog. =) The day was spent at home with my family. Playing with the super kulit Jeff, chatting with my sister in Dubai, kwentuhan with Joven, my mom, sister and “sister-in-law.”
Uneventful perhaps but the birthday greetings and time with my family definitely made my day. =)
Monday! Our anniversary!
Late Sunday night, I gave Joven a letter. A letter full of love. Yihii! =)
We met at UN Avenue early Monday morning. He just got off the gym while I was heading to Philam to have something corrected for my HMO.
After that was done, we headed to Robinson’s Place. As part of my anniversary gift, I treated Joven to a sumptous lunch at Cabalen. Busog! At this point, Joven brought out his gift to me (again). A card and a bottle of perfume. =)
After lunch, we headed to SM San Lazaro to meet my mom. We’re set to watch Memoirs of a Geisha. Since it was still early, we went shopping. I got us new shirts at Hang Ten and Joven a new office jacket as part of my anniversary gift. =)
Honestly, I was a little disappointed with the movie. The book was better. I will not say more, others have said a lot already. But I still think Ziyi Zhang is pretty and can really pass herself to be Japanese. =)

Woohoo! Grabe na ito!
Two weeks ago, Inquirer’s 2bU! launched a love story contest (2bU! Plays Cupid Promo) in time for Valentines. With nothing better to do, I decided to make a PowerPoint presentation about our love story and e-mailed it to them.
I never really thought about it until yesterday… I received an e-mail from Pam of 2bU! asking me to submit my entry in MSWord format. She added that contest winners will be announced today.
Early this morning, I grabbed our Inquirer and immediately looked at the 2bU! section.

Instead of V-day, we had our valentine’s date on this day… I met Dionne at Pacific Star at around 5:30PM. We wanted to catch the 5:50PM movie, but because of the traffic, we missed it by a few minutes. Dang! We decided to get tickets for the next screening, at 8:10PM.
Even though it was still early, we were both quite hungry that we had an early dinner. Craving for something new, I earlier browsed through ClickTheCity and saw Cibo as one of the top picks. Curious us made our way to the small resto and had a sumptuous meal. The food was absolutely wonderful!
After dinner, I wanted to try my sweet tooth at McCafe. Too bad that I was not able to fully appreciate the frappe’s taste because of the mud pie (sarap!). Which just gives me an excuse to try it one more time…
And on we went to our valentine movie, about a love that withstood time and faced the most difficult odds… a movie about two cowboys… Brokeback Mountain. How was it? Ask Dionne. Hehe!
Saturday, Feb 18
We were set to go to Luiz’s 2nd birthday celebration that afternoon, with Jeff-kulit in tow. Being a good ninang, we bought gifts for Luiz, one big box to be marked as from us and a small one, as Jeff’s present. We also went to get our weekly grocery, where we got the ingredients for Dionne’s pasta experiment.
At the party, we met more of Con and Arjohn’s friends. Sarap nung sisig!
Of course, Luiz had his candle-blowing moment. Everyone had to remind Jeff not to interfere with this one. We told him that he’ll get his chance afterwards… Kulit talaga!
We arrived a little after 4 and left at around 6. All the while munching and drinking gulaman… Again… HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUIZ!
Sunday, Feb 19
After mass at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes at Retiro, we treated Mommie and Jeff to lunch at Jonas, the birthplace of the original pares. That “original” thing is debatable, nevertheless, it’s still one of the best! Apparently, they already raised prices… which translated to bigger servings… Not bad. Hehe!
We then set out for Megamall, to visit the wedding expo there. Our objectives: get a look at Marita’s toppers (of Hearts & Bells), and get bridal car packages. It might have been because it was the last day of the event and having arrived after lunch, we were not able to meet Marita. But we did see the new toppers… We’re definitely getting one of those!
We also passed by the W@W booth and saw that they’re also selling the YabangPinoy bands. We were surprised to meet Threelogy at the event, with their new display monitor, and looking like they just ate and want to go to sleep! Haha, just kidding guys. =P
After going around the hall, we had a bag full of flyers, which included two from bridal car suppliers. On a side note, that has got to be our shortest stay at a wedding fair. Nuninu.
From the expo, we went to SM department store to hunt for Dionne’s wedding shoes. We found some nice ones but not the one. While walking, we got into a conversation regarding SM. That the original SM only sold shoes, like Zenco Footstep. And that it was the first to evolve and thus survive (and thrive), unlike Zenco Footstep.
We also got our dose of BTIC shakes, coffee-flavored. While waiting for our order, Dionne got me excited, saying “uy, may lasagna flavor na pala“… Of course, I jumped and hurriedly looked around the booth, “san? san?” Tsk, tsk, tsk. Dionne got me again.
By 4PM-ish, we were already at home. Benj and I were supposed to meet and do some “work”. I was surprised to see him get there 10 seconds ahead of us! Come to think of it, I don’t think this is possible, because, we both rode the LRT. And the intervals between trains are not that short. Unless… Unless we were on the same train… Hmm. The plot thickens!
While we were working, Dionne got into a cooking groove, preparing the fetuccini and four-cheese spaghetti sauce. Sarap! It is, promise! I’m not saying that just because Dionne cooked it, but it really is delicious. Benj can attest to this. Haha!

Having less than four months to go before our wedding, we went to Manila City Hall to get our marriage license (which could be used up to four months after issuance). We got there after 8AM and went directly to the area for the application. Before 9AM, we were on our way to the Marriage Counseling seminar, where we spent the next hour or so with four other couples. During the conversation, Jude, the counselor, discussed a lot of things, notable of which is that Manila is PRO-LIFE. He only mentioned “contraceptives” to emphasize that Manila is not endorsing those products. Natural is still the best, he says. He also said that “marital rape” is not only applicable to women, but also for men. Though, it’s going to be hard to prove that one…
After the seminar, we went back to get finish our application… Wow, never did I know that an incorrect name due to clerical error could cost that much time and money to correct. Anyway… We were able to complete the requirements, including the panunumpa. We’re scheduled to get our license by March 3. =)
Lunch was at one of our favorite fastfoods, Karate Kid. From there, we went to see Lalaine’s mother, Tita Glo and “formally” ask her to be one of our ninangs.
We got home by 2PM. I must have been very tired at this point because my power nap lasted for 2 1/2 hours!
By 6PM, I was on my way to my org’s first GA. Which is weird because I never joined any group in college, except SAL. Anyway, PHISSUG’s website is now up. Take note that this is still under development. (Disclaimer agad. Hehe.)

Wala! Hahaha!
Actually, meron naman.
Last week, we finalized some of the details with our caterer plus had more food tasting. =P Ms. Connie of
Robert Camba was very attentive even though she had dozens of clients on that day. We were able to choose our menu, flowers, tables, chairs, motif colors for the linens and the like. We’re also glad that they were able to exchange the corkage fee for the wine glasses for the other amenities we did not get. Yey! =) We were also able to finalize the headcount to 240 (including the suppliers). We have yet to look into the layout. Haay, another thing to think about… Anyway, I’m just glad to check some of the details off our list. =)
We took the day off last Friday to see my doctor. I hope to see the last of these allergies. After going to the doctor, we decided to head to SM Manila since we’re already in the vicinity. We decided to check out the thank-you-cards from
QP Designs. We followed what Edwin of
Unifair told us. Buy the cards at a low rate, have Unifair print our monogram to it and voila! Our personalized thank-you-cards! So, we bought 200 of them. =)
In the course of our strolling, we chanced upon Sprint Digital. They do different kinds printing stuff in a reasonable rate. After inquiring, we decided to have our save-the-dates printed there. Of course I had to do the layout first (Yax kasi is still frolicking in Bohol eh. Hahaha! Nanisi pa daw. Peace Yax! May souvenir magnets pa naman eh. Hehe!).
After SM Manila, we headed to the City Hall to check out the requirements for marriage license. Actually, I already know the requirements. I just want to know where we’re supposed to go for the application. Since we’re under the 120-day mark, we can apply for our license already. We’ll probably do that next week. =)
Last Saturday, we had our save-the-dates in printed. This is how it looks like:

Now, we’re busy mailing them. I just hope everything will be out this week. =)
Sunday, we went to Megamall to go to the travel fair but chickened out when we saw the number of people inside. We went to
The Wedding Library instead. Sad to say, I didn’t find anything I needed there. Most of what they have, I already have. =D
We went instead to SM lingerie section to look for what I will be needing for the wedding (take note: wedding day, not night =P ). Good thing we didn’t have to go to Rustan’s to look for a Maidenform there. I need all the help I can get! I gained weight again. Hahaha!
Updates techie-wise after the Net connection upgrade:
- Joven bought a pc cam with mic for easier chatting with my sister in Dubai.
- 100-gig external hard disk for file storage. The CDs are piling up and will crush us to death soon.
- A dvd-writer. Pamimirata ito! =P
- USB 2 card; unfortunately the other USB ports went dead after its installation.
Books update
Have finished a number of books already. Most notable would be this one:
I cannot put it down! After reading it, I went to the official website and found out that it will be shown on the 22nd. Ang tagal! Gash, we’re one of the last countries to view it. Argh! I think it will be visually entertaining after seeing the pictures. Can’t wait! Joven-san, nood tayo! =D
Lapit na birthday ko. Di ko pa feel. (Pero binoblog. Hahaha! Shameless!) =D
