Butterfly in a Cocoon

Filed under: Dionneisms — Dionne @ 9:20 pm

Haay… I am not exactly happy with the way I look now. Sooo awkward! It’s like I’m back to puberty. Sheesh!

I was never so conscious with the way I look. I rarely wear make-up. I comb my hair only once a day. I do not go to derm clinics or spas regularly. I do my own nails. I never wore braces. I used to go to the gym just so I won’t get tired easily (which I eventually got tired of… hehe!). I always wear clothes that are on the “safe side” (meaning, I am not into fashion trends).

Until, I decided to get married. I know… I know what you think. Why? Because, I want to… I want to look different. Not that there’s something wrong with the way I look now. Not that I want to “look perfect” on the big day (maybe about 25% of myself says this… hehe!). I know that it is not essential. I know I won’t die because I’m not thin enough, I don’t have the smoothest skin or my teeth are not perfectly lined up next to each other… Not for anything else. Because I want to. Period. And maybe, it’s about time.

As some of you know, I’m waiting for my hair to grow longer. I look odd! I haven’t done this for seven years! But still, I’m trying to overcome the urge to storm into a salon and have it cropped short. Oui, trés court, SVP!

I also started having consultations with what to do with my skin. Last Saturday, I had some facial warts cauterized. It’s an ugly scene. I call myself the polka-dot-kid!

Good thing the people in the office knows the why in all of this. And Joven says that I’m still pretty. =)

I just tell myself… butterfly in a cocoon. Butterfly in a cocoon.

Repeat after me… butterfly in a cocoon.

Labor of Love!

Filed under: Dionneisms — Dionne @ 2:18 am

Woohoo! Presenting our new template!

I have been prodding Joven to change our template since we started blogging. He was always busy with work and with a lot of other stuff (me, of course… hehe!) that he was only able to start doing it early this month. =) We sat down last week to discuss the template because he said that he need to see it in Photoshop. Syempre dapat motif namin yung colors. Ideas came pouring in and… voila! The template!

I’m sooo proud of him! He did everything from scratch! I looove it! Mwah @ joven! =)

Don’t you just love it? =D

It’s My Birthday!

Filed under: Birthday, Get-togethers, Movies — joven @ 5:27 pm

18th: It’s a good thing that there’s someone at the office who has the same birthday as I do! Either we double the treat or we split the cost between us. Guess what we did… Split, of course!

The week before, Sherwin and I already agreed to treat our officemates to lunch. On our birthday, we ordered one bilao of pancit and one bilao of palabok, and two gallons of ice cream. The bilao which was supposed to be for 15-20 persons turned out to be for 15-20 non-Joven and non-Sherwin types! Whew! Buti na lang di namin kasinglaki ang karamihan sa office…

Later that night, we were to have a simple dinner (food c/o Aroma Chicken) at Dionne’s house… to my surprise, Dionne bought vanilla ice cream (from Magnolia) and chocolate sans rival cake (from Goldilocks). Grabe, ang sarap! Thanks Dionne! Mwah! Mwah! =)

19th: We had dinner with Benj, Richie and Ryan at Sentro. Grabe, sarap nung Crispy Pata! We went to see Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith after that. Ten-ten-tenen tentenen tentenen tentenen! A great movie to close out a great series.

20th: Dinner was courtesy of Pearli and Vincent. Mr. Kabab was the place of choice. Brings back memories… Mr. Kabab was where our grade school mini-reunion took place last year. Yup, that was where I had dinner with Dionne and our classmates after 13 years of non-communication. It wasn’t the first place we met again because we met earlier at KFC, which was easier to spot… I had shawarma (with rice) while they had dishes I can’t recall the names… Syempre, masarap din! Spent the rest of the night at Starbucks, talking about work, weddings and other people. Hehe!

21st: We had lunch with my family at Jollibee/Greenwich. Carbonara, lasagna, beef with mushroon, spaghetti, chikenjoy and a square pizza for 6 people. Sarap (lagi naman eh)!
