Issie just loves watching this movie. Every night at that!

According to IMDB, there was a live action trailer… Thanks to YouTube, here it is:

The Rebellion Begins

Filed under: Date, Movies — joven @ 10:04 pm

Last Wednesday, Dionne and I went to watch Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix at Greenbelt 3. (We were finally able to use our M-Pass again. It was about to expire after two more months of inactivity. But after Wednesday, it’s back to six more months.)

We opted for a relatively early screening (7:05 PM) so as to avoid being out too late. At 6:15 PM, we were able to get our tickets.

Because we didn’t have enough time for a non-fastfood meal, we just bought snacks to bring to the movie. Dionne had what looked like a big bucket of cheese-flavored popcorn. She eventually found out that there was a piece of cardboard at the bottom of the bucket that occupies around 20% of its volume. Tsk tsk tsk.

While I had a Sack of 4 (with cheese) from Sliders. For PHP 100, it’s not worth your money.

(We also bought a box of cupcakes from Gonuts Donuts.  You have to try these!)

Surprisingly, the cinema wasn’t even half-full. That’s just a week after it started being shown.

And then it started…

Dionne liked this movie more than the previous ones because Yates‘ take on it is more catered for adults than for kids.

My younger brother Jeffrey (Male, 24, Single) said that his friends say that they didn’t like this one because there was no Quidditch.

See the kids’ point of view?

Anyway, the last installment of the series is going to be available tomorrow. I’m not sure if bookstores will still be open at 12:01 AM later to sell these… If you are one of those who didn’t reserve a copy and want to get your hands on it, you can check this out. I got the link from one of my former officemates. I started reading it yesterday but somehow it felt different from J. K. Rowling’s style. I could be wrong… I’ll know tomorrow. :)

After the movie, we had a hearty dinner at Bubba Gump.  We ordered one pasta dish and a bucket of shrimps cooked in different ways.  One of them was called “chilly.”  We thought it would be spicy.  It didn’t occur to us that it was spelled such.

Imagine our surprise when we took our first bite of this chilly shrimp.  It was cold.

Chilly not chili!  Duh!

I was still able to finish most of it though.  And still felt bad that I was not able to wipe out the chilly shrimps.   They just taste odd.  Just like the cold soup I had in London.  (Yes, I still owe you guys the London kwento.)

From Bubba Gump, we went to Cold Rock.  Dionne treated me to Ferrero-flavored ice cream with cookie dough and Nutella.  Sinful!

I’m very happy with how our date turned out.  It’s been a while I guess.  I hope to do this more often now that most of my projects are almost done.  As long as baby allows us.  Wavyu baby!

Transform and … Pop!

Filed under: Issie, Movies — joven @ 11:14 am

Yesterday, we went for an unscheduled visit to Dionne’s OB because she’s been sick for the past few days. She was beginning to worry about our baby.

At around 10:30AM we were on our way to Chinese General Hospital. When we got there, there were already five other women in the queue. We had to wait for around 30 minutes before the doctor came. Then an hour for our turn.

When we got inside the clinic, the doctor asked her questions on how she feels now and how long it’s been since she got sick. She prescribed some meds for Dionne to take for one week. I do hope she feels better now.

As part of the routine checkup, the doctor listens to baby’s heartbeat via the doppler. For the past tow sessions, I missed hearing this. Not this time!

At the sight of the oil (was that oil?) being applied on Dionne’s tummy, I bolted up from my chair and stood on the doctor’s left. Unfortunately for me, baby wasn’t as steady as before so it was hard to get a reading. But I did get to hear a few seconds of it…

POP-POP-POP!

Wow. Simply wow.

After the movie, we had lunch at home then went to SM San Lazaro to pay my credit card bill that was due on that day.

I originally just had permission for a half-day leave, which was extended to a whole day, thanks to the kindness of my boss. Although I still feel I am entitled to at least two weeks vacation for the work that I did in London. But that’s for another post. Hehe.

I got to spend the whole afternoon with Dionne. Yey!

We were surprised by the number of people at SM on a Thursday, and at 2PM! It could be because it’s the first day for Transformers!

Having missed a lot of good movies the past month, we (at least, I, hehe) wouldn’t want to miss this one.

And did we have a blast with the movie!

I was in awe when I saw their new looks. Bumblebee is … Oops. Sorry about that.

And Megratron! He’s … OOOPS. Sorry again. Just watch the movie. If you’re a fan of the original series (not the Primal one), you’ll love this one.

I do hope there’s going to be a sequel.

(Anybody wants to play Transformers TCG? I’d rather have the toys!)

The Pursuit of Happyness

The Pursuit of Happyness Dionne was able to watch The Pursuit of Happyness a few weeks back courtesy of Allan the movie addict. She liked it very much. As usual, nagpa-kwento naman ako.

At a point in the film, Chris Gardner (played by Will Smith) sold his blood for money. For Dionne, this was one of the most desperate acts a man can do. After the story-telling, she asked me what I could’ve done in such a situation. Here’s how the conversation went:

J: Malamang magbenta na lang ako ng laman…
D: Por kilo?

Oh yeah, I got back last Saturday, March 10.

Nothing much happened to me and my officemate since Dionne went back to Manila. Most of our time was spent at the office or hotel or at the nearby malls. The rare times we got far was when we bought pasalubong at Mustafa Center. We also walked around Sim Lim but didn’t buy anything. Prices were cheaper than usual but my money was not enough to get a laptop…

cimg2788.JPG Speaking of pasalubong, I was lucky enough to find our much-loved Full House in DVD. For Dionne. I also got some replay (aka old) games for S$9.90 each. One of them was Gangsters 2. Dionne’s trying to figure out this game as of this writing. So far, she has managed to bring down some enemies and has become the most wanted person in the city. Thus shortening game play.

cimg2824.JPG Back to Singapore. We got to watch the last game in the current Pinoy IT-Singapore league. It was player/coach Arms’ team, 0 wins out of 6, versus a team that’s gunning for a finals berth. The game ended rather satisfactorily. Only a 22-point loss. According to Karen, Arms’ better half, it was usually more than 30. The next season is in May. Arms jokingly recruited me. Let’s see what happens. Nuninu.

The highlight of our stay would have to be the much anticipated IT Show Singapore 2007. Bagsak-presyo talaga!

I almost bought a Philips 19″ widescreen LCD monitor for S$329. Under 10k pesos!

Almost. I kept my focus on our current project which will be coming soon, care of the Tugagaos.

Stranger Than Heroes

Filed under: Date, Makeover, Movies, TV — Dionne @ 2:49 am

Last Friday, Joven and I went to see Stranger Than Fiction at G4. Since I got out of the office quite late (because of an extended meeting that left me in high spirits for the weekend), we had a quick dinner at Burger King – one of our favorite fast food restos. The movie was funny but not as funny as his other movies. But we both enjoyed it… well… if not for the annoying man behind us. Grabe sa hilig mag-comment! Di ko nga maintindihan kung di nakikita nung kasama nya yung palabas eh. He’s verbalizing everything he’s seeing! Gash! Haay. Anyway, I enjoyed laughing at them afterwards.

I love going out with my husband, whether it be a simple grocery errand or a big date. Kahit na may mga kakaibang sitwasyon, nakukuha pa rin namin mag-enjoy. =)

Our Saturday was uneventful. We spent our day lounging at home and finished 13 episodes of Heroes. I must say we’re hooked. Aliw! Hiro looks sooo cute. Teddy bear-ish cute. Hehe!

Yesterday, Joven and I went to Bench Fix to have our hair fixed. =P

This is how Joven looks like:

Pogi no?

Ever wonder how I look like with straight hair? The stylist told me that he needed to texturize my hair (whatever that means) so he needed to blowdry my hair straight. It took him quite some time, para hindi naman masayang effort nya I took a picture of me. Hehe!
