How was your holidays?

Gosh, I miss blogging. My blogging life obviously (which includes my paid posts) has taken a back seat… so has my facebook career. Hehe.

Here’s what’s keeping me/us busy:

  • Mini-parties. Contrary to what I thought, our holidays have been full. I thought that since we were on “house arrest,” our friends will just go on with the kitakits/parties sans us. But, they fixed their schedules so that they can visit us. Nice talaga! So, on different occasions we had friends over for either lunch or dinner. :)
  • Breastfeeding… err… pumping milk that is. I have been pumping milk since Issie came because she doesn’t want to latch (which is really a big let down for me). Actually, I’m blaming CGH for it. They bottle fed Issie while in she was in the nursery. Since I had a C-section, they did not bother to bring me to the nursery to feed her. After I was discharged, my OB prescribed some meds to me which prevented me from breastfeeding her. Haay. I learned later that UST Hospital cup feeds newborns at the nursery and brings the mothers to them for feeding. Next time talaga, I’ll find a better hospital. Well, that’ll be 3-4 years from now pa naman. Hehe. I’m thankful for a good milk supply. Although at night we still give her a bottle or two of formula. I’m still trying to store more milk para I can exclusively feed her na lang. Kaya ngayon, best friend ko ang sabaw. Bow.
  • Hospital check-ups. I still have to go back to my OB this January for another check-up. Issie has had two check-ups and immunizations already. On the 22nd, she’ll have a 6-in-1 vaccine. Tapang naman ng baby ko, when her pedia sticks the needle she only cries for a short while, tapos nun, ala na.
  • Baby Stuff. We been going to SM San Lazaro every once in a while to get Issie some of the things she needs. Latest addition is her Cosco Geoby Baby Stroller – gearing up for her baptism.
  • Preps for Issie’s Baptism. So far, we’ve booked the church (UST) and the reception venue (Chinatown’s Best Food Resto) for the 26th already. Thanks to my best friend who had her daughter’s baptism there too. Hehe. I made simple invites via Microsoft Publisher and had them sent out already. I have yet to get the souvenirs and Issie’s baptism clothes.
  • Salon Visit. A friend told me that postpartum depression sometimes comes when the mother doesn’t feel too good about herself. So, I made it a point to visit the salon and get my hair fixed. I also had my nails done. Ayun, feeling pretty na. Haha!
  • Wedding. One of my friends, Lalaine, got married last January 4. She prepared for this wedding for over a year. Being an overseas bride (UK) and a not very hands-on bride (hehe!), she would often ask me q’s on the preps. I was one of her candle sponsors and my mom, one of her principal sponsors. The wedding turned out great. More pics here. Sayang lang, some of our friends are abroad already. Hi Anne, Cathy and Mai! Sino na kayang next? Paging Andrew, Mai and Beej. Peace. Hehe.

  • and of course Issie! I’m getting obsessed already. Haha! I created a multiply and a friendster account for her already. She’s smiling na! She would coo whenever you talk to her. Kakaaliw talaga. Sarap ng may baby. When she smiles, burado na lahat ng pagpupuyat. :)

Happy New Year Everyone!

Last two holiday events to blog about…

Last Dec 29-30 we checked-in at The Pearl Manila Hotel for an overnighter with my college barkada. It was unfortunate that preggy Mem and hubby were not able to join us. Masama daw ang pakiramdam ni buntis.

So far, this has been the “most attended” of the past get-togethers. Since Andrew has been seriously studying Medicine (Hehe!), he didn’t have much time to go out and socialize. =P Now that he is a full-fledged doctor, he only has the USMLE in mind. Plus, Lalaine’s been in town so this is really something we’re looking forward to.

The day started with a serious Risk match between Benj, Beej, Andrew and moi. Andrew won on the merit that he is very serious in destroying my empire. He hates me because luck was on my side. =P I hope that somebody will study the manual and teach us how to play the Star Wars mode. Hehe!

Cri-c arrived and was giving us hell because she was not included in the game. At least she acquired a new best friend in Benj. Hehe!

Anne arrived a few minutes after with boyfriend, Joseph. *Kilig!*

Soon after, Cri-c and Anne were updating each other with what’s happening in their lives.

We got tired with Risk and switched to Guesstures. We were odd-numbered so we decided that Andrew should act out all the words. And boy, can he act! Wow! Most of us were in awe watching him, we forget to guess the word. Andrew acted the words until Lalaine got to the hotel. He was acting for more than two hours, dinner lang pahinga. Hihi!

Manuel joined us close to midnight. Being the booze carrier, he was worth the wait. But, it seems that age are getting to us because soon after, people were switching to Pepsi and water.

To ward off sleepiness, we decided to switch to the classic Pinoy Henyo. (BTW, did you know that there is an online Pinoy Henyo??? Haha! Weird!) We finally gave up fighting sleep after 2AM.

Later morning, we still didn’t have enough of Guesstures and played some more. After we got tired, we moved to videoke singing. Cri-c belted her college winning piece. Walang kupas!

We decided to part ways at 12 noon – check out time na kasi. Hehe!

*Sigh* I miss college, where life was less complicated and when we say overnighter – nobody really sleeps. =P

New Year Party

We have an annual tradition to invite relatives and friends to join us for a simple get-together at home. My mom turns into a kitchen whiz and prepares delicious food for everyone.

Thanks for those who came: Con (with Arjahn & Luiz), Mavis (with pretty Angel), Beej & Benj, Lalaine (with Ninang, Ate, Kuya & Kulit), Allan, Bon, OJ, Ate Malou, Nanay (with kids), Kuya Mel (with Tisha and kids), Annie & Tony… at marami pang iba. Hope to see you again next year, same venue, same time. =)

Pics here.

How come the clock spins fast every time one is on vacation?

I’m already anticipating the next long one. Kelan kaya yung susunod? Nuninu.

Happy New Year!

Filed under: New Year, Wedding — Dionne @ 7:20 pm

Been busy lately (more like, been tamad lately) to update our blog. =D

I’m still in this surreal mode that we only have five months before the big day. We’re still on the look out for a caterer. Been considering two (Swan and Robert Camba) but still haven’t decided yet. Hopefully, we can tick this off from our list come next week.

I thought that I would be relaxed as a sloth this year. But, lo and behold, I’m still neck deep with to-dos. I don’t want to bore you with that yet… will list it down once I’m panicking already. I still have this magic organizer in my mind (with matching timelines, etc.) that I update every hour. Hehe! I do hope that it will still work come crunch time. I find myself opening my binder (where I keep all the wedding related stuff) more often. I feel that I have to keep it within reach or else, I’ll lose all the info in my magic organizer. Nagiging security blanket na!

I also find myself doing matrixes (matrix of caterers, hmua, flowers, reception venues, etc.). It actually reminds me of my old boss who always want everything in a matrix. Creepy! But honestly, it really helps. =)

Then there’s the story of the prenups, cake, invitations, save-the-date (hi yax! hehe!), e-mailing suppliers re change of venue, hotel preps, etc. I can go on for years. =D

But, I’m a little scared of what Benz told me… withdrawal syndrome. =P

So what is this post all about?

I just want to greet all of you… happy new year! Segue lang yung wedpreps! Hehe!

BTW, we both had a wonderful time during the holidays. It also dawned on us that next year will be totally different. *Anticipating* =)
