Weekend Recap

Filed under: Games, Get-togethers, Issie, Shopping — Dionne @ 4:23 pm

Joven arrived from Singapore last Friday. Yay! His flight was an hour late due to some technical problems. At least, he arrived safely. His luggage went over for almost a kilo, good thing he was spared the excess baggage fee. Good thing also that his carry-on luggage was not weighed, or he would have paid extra for that. Hehe!

Last Saturday, we spent the whole day at home. The morning was spent tidying up before our guests arrived. Our friend, Brymac arrived after lunch. He’s a serious photo enthusiast and we will be his very willing subjects. Hehe! We have been talking about this shoot for over a month ago but we figured that it would be better to have it done when I’m on my last trimester already. So last Saturday, we spent over two hours doing various shots until we can’t think of poses anymore. Haha! Many thanks Brymac! Will upload pictures soon. ;)

After the photo shoot, it’s Wii time with Brymac and the B’s. The rest of the afternoon was spent playing Wii (screaming at Resident Evil 4 and laughing our heads off at Wii Play) and later, MTG (for Joven and Benj). Beej and I tried watching a Korean movie (Unstoppable Marriage) but she ended up asleep and I, in turn, had my nails done instead.

Sunday was spent shopping for baby stuff. I was quite unsure of what to buy (in terms of clothes) because my friends keep telling me that newborns grow fast. So, I asked my mom to accompany us to the mall. We ended up buying sleeveless tie-sides, short-sleeved tie-sides, long-sleeved tie-sides, pajamas, bonnets, mittens, socks, hooded blankets cum towels, towelettes, and bigkis. Since SM has their baby sale until the end of the month, we took advantage and bought Issie’s bottles, sterilizer and my breast pump. Joven and I talked about buying a new crib (we have an old one, which was my nephew’s, but we were advised to get a new one) and I told him the Graco cribs I saw on the Net. We were just supposed to look for one but we ended up buying one! Hehe! We both think it’s a good buy anyway. I can’t find the exact model but it looks a lot like this (but in lilac and yellow). It has the same features except for the diaper organizer which our model has. We still have a number of things we need to buy for Issie but that will come in the following weeks. Exciting!

For two nights already, I can’t seem to pull myself away from the laptop. The reason? Sims 2 Deluxe! :P

New Toy

Filed under: Games — Dionne @ 9:35 pm

We’ve been planning to buy one for us since it will be easier for Joven to work “independently” (i.e. sidelines… hehe!). Ako naman, wala lang. Haha!

We found the perfect time when I got accepted to the Netherlands scholarship. Joven wanted to buy one in Singapore since electronic items are cheaper there compared here. But since we can’t find one within our budget, our friends, Francis and Irish, offered to get one for us straight from NY (Thanks again guys!). Yippee!

Here’s our new toy. =D

I love it! And I love playing CIV4 in it! Haha!

Game 5 Tonight!

Filed under: Games, Party, Sports — joven @ 4:38 pm

In other news, sister teams San Miguel Beermen and Barangay Ginebra Kings are tied at 2-2 in their best-of-seven series. SMB got a 2-0 start but Ginebra scored two lopsided victories.

We were there when SMB absorbed its 111-146 Game 4 thrashing. (Tita Dap got us the tickets. Thanks again!)

The game was scheduled at 7PM. I got to Cubao at around 6PM and waited for Dionne, Bon and OJ. We had a quick dinner at KFC and rushed off to the arena. At the walkway, we met Ate Malou and hubby Ariel. Turns out they’ll also be watching the game.

Dionne and I have been SMB fans since way back. She still remembers when Hector Calma was playing while Mon Fernandez was the memorable player for me. Unfortunately for us, everybody else with us were pro-Ginebra… We were outnumbered 4 to 2.

The game started with both teams scorching hot. Each time a player scores, the crowd screams. It was quite obvious that most of the crowd were for Ginebra. Unfortunately, SMB couldn’t keep up with the firepower of Ginebra and they started to pull away at the end of the first quarter. By halftime, the lead balooned to 22 points. I thought, we’re still in this. Just a couple of stops and some more consistent scoring.

But then the game got ugly. SMB piled up foul after foul. Danny Seigle, SMB’s primary scorer for the game (and the series, I think), got two quick fouls in less than two minutes. He continued to play with four fouls, making him ineffective on defense. Play after play, a whistle against SMB can be heard. There was a point when the usually cool Olsen Racela baited the referees to T him up because he was throwing the ball towards the crowd.

There were times when SMB seems to be making a run, only to be doused by Ginebra’s bench. They wouldn’t miss! Even Andy Seigle scored!

Haay.

After the game, we had coffee at Coffee Bean. After a couple of minutes, Jera and Bianco fetched us to meet with the other Frenchies. Lu was in town for a short “vacation” from her scholarship. Food was in abundance as usual, courtesy of host Michelle.

We played Guesstures, the original version. It was boys vs. girls. We had an early lead but were overtaken at a point. It took a barrage of near-perfect sets for us to get back the lead, including ingenious moves for hairdo (me), helicopter (Dax), nipple (OJ) and stripper (Bianco), among many. In the end, we showed them our mastery of the game, 310 to 296. HEHEHE.

By the way, tonight is Game 5. Go SMB! Bawi tayo!

Update:
SMB lost. :(

Bonne Année!

Happy New Year Everyone!

Last two holiday events to blog about…

Last Dec 29-30 we checked-in at The Pearl Manila Hotel for an overnighter with my college barkada. It was unfortunate that preggy Mem and hubby were not able to join us. Masama daw ang pakiramdam ni buntis.

So far, this has been the “most attended” of the past get-togethers. Since Andrew has been seriously studying Medicine (Hehe!), he didn’t have much time to go out and socialize. =P Now that he is a full-fledged doctor, he only has the USMLE in mind. Plus, Lalaine’s been in town so this is really something we’re looking forward to.

The day started with a serious Risk match between Benj, Beej, Andrew and moi. Andrew won on the merit that he is very serious in destroying my empire. He hates me because luck was on my side. =P I hope that somebody will study the manual and teach us how to play the Star Wars mode. Hehe!

Cri-c arrived and was giving us hell because she was not included in the game. At least she acquired a new best friend in Benj. Hehe!

Anne arrived a few minutes after with boyfriend, Joseph. *Kilig!*

Soon after, Cri-c and Anne were updating each other with what’s happening in their lives.

We got tired with Risk and switched to Guesstures. We were odd-numbered so we decided that Andrew should act out all the words. And boy, can he act! Wow! Most of us were in awe watching him, we forget to guess the word. Andrew acted the words until Lalaine got to the hotel. He was acting for more than two hours, dinner lang pahinga. Hihi!

Manuel joined us close to midnight. Being the booze carrier, he was worth the wait. But, it seems that age are getting to us because soon after, people were switching to Pepsi and water.

To ward off sleepiness, we decided to switch to the classic Pinoy Henyo. (BTW, did you know that there is an online Pinoy Henyo??? Haha! Weird!) We finally gave up fighting sleep after 2AM.

Later morning, we still didn’t have enough of Guesstures and played some more. After we got tired, we moved to videoke singing. Cri-c belted her college winning piece. Walang kupas!

We decided to part ways at 12 noon – check out time na kasi. Hehe!

*Sigh* I miss college, where life was less complicated and when we say overnighter – nobody really sleeps. =P

New Year Party

We have an annual tradition to invite relatives and friends to join us for a simple get-together at home. My mom turns into a kitchen whiz and prepares delicious food for everyone.

Thanks for those who came: Con (with Arjahn & Luiz), Mavis (with pretty Angel), Beej & Benj, Lalaine (with Ninang, Ate, Kuya & Kulit), Allan, Bon, OJ, Ate Malou, Nanay (with kids), Kuya Mel (with Tisha and kids), Annie & Tony… at marami pang iba. Hope to see you again next year, same venue, same time. =)

Pics here.

How come the clock spins fast every time one is on vacation?

I’m already anticipating the next long one. Kelan kaya yung susunod? Nuninu.

On a high (note)

Filed under: Games, Party, Shopping — Dionne @ 5:48 pm

Friday was spelled C-E-L-E-B-R-A-T-I-O-N for us. It was the birthdays of my office friends, Irish and Dhang. We started off the day with some gift giving and a quick lunch at Sbarro in MOA.

Since we were psyched for the day, we also bought “matching shirts.” Mine read like this:

Here are some of the other shirts:

Later that night, Joven and I plus my office friends went to Music Match in Tomas Morato to sing our lungs out. Since we are RedBox regulars, this was the first time we’re trying something new. We were not disappointed!

We were given a big room (i.e., big space to dance around) and our own comfort room. The staff were very courteous… even the owner was surprisingly “game” in our little surprise. You see, we bought two cakes from Kink Cakes for our friends. One with a pair of big b**bs (because she can only dream of having such… hehe!) and the other with huge behind (she has one!).

Three of our friends picked it up from their branch in Timog. I was surprised when I was called by one of the staff because of a “phone call.” The owner was in the hallway and instructed me to proceed to the front desk. Voila! The cakes and my friends were there. To make the timing right, we had (the staff & owner included) to call Joven for another “phone call” (I wonder why nobody questioned that… hehe!).

In the end, the timing was perfect. The birthday girls were very surprised (one even cried!). After the candles were blown, the real party started!

We sang and danced our hearts out. Food and drinks kept pouring in. Ansaya!!!

We capped the night with a cup of vanilla latté in our favorite café.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

Joven and I were supposed to go shopping for gifts at 168 on Saturday morning. But, because of a very tiring night, we weren’t able to get ourselves out of bed early. Shopping was moved to the afternoon. We’re almost done with our shopping but we still need to go back next week. We also need to go to the mall for additional gifts. Mahirap maraming kaibigan. Haha! It was definitely tiring. But for women, shopping is shopping. Hihi! The fun part – my husband was so kind to carry most of the stuff. =D

Since my friend mentioned to me that she’s addicted to Prime Suspects. I got curious. I begged Joven to download me a copy (with the crack, of course!).

Yesterday, Joven and I were playing it together. We finally stopped after 5 hours! Call that addiction. Maybe we’d get Huntsville too. Hehe!
